I was a Live-In Caregiver for 2+ yrs, while I was getting my Masters in Counseling, for a woman who had advanced MS. I supervised the HHA's, provided medication management., meals, and also cared for my client when there was bad weather or if a person called out. I took care of the house, cooked & did all the shopping. I did whatever was required. I have counseled for 25+ yrs, which greatly helps in Caregiving. Non-smoker. CPR/AED/First Aid Certified. I have cared for a few people with Stage 7 Alzheimer's, Varying Dementia Issues, Parkinson's, Neurological Issues, Complex PTSD, Veterans, Agoraphobia, & Post-Surgical Care. I was a Live In Caregiver for an 82-year-old man with end stage 7 Alzheimer's. Cared for a couple with many medical issues. I have done Hospice Care. Was a Live In for a woman who was admitted to hospice at home. Worked as a Live In with a woman with neurological issues. I work both P/T & F/T jobs. I look forward to meeting you and your loved one. Anne is the needle in a haystack. She is incredibly skilled and competent however her compassion, integrity and calling to help others, particularly seniors, is what distinguishes her. As a result I have no doubt she can choose the patients and families she takes on. You are fortunate if she agrees to join your team as she will bring structure, grace and compassionate care to what has been a difficult journey for our family in navigating chronic, degenerative illnesses for both parents.

FAQs for finding a caregiver

How much does an in-home caregiver cost in 2021?
The average rate for hiring a caregiver on Care.com as of May, 2021 is $15.50 per hour. This cost will fluctuate depending on your location, the caregiver's level of experience, whether the care is full-time or part-time and the duties your senior caregiver needs to perform.
How can I find a good caregiver?

Looking for a senior caregiver to care for an elderly parent or loved one can be an overwhelming task. To make the process easier, start by outlining what you'd like from a candidate before starting your caregiver search. Think about the level of experience you wish them to have, the tasks that they would need to perform, and how much are you able to pay.

To start the search process on Care.com, you will first need to create an account by answering a few simple questions to find caregivers that match your individual needs. You will then have the option to either post a job and receive applications from candidates, or search for caregivers on the platform based on years of experience, hourly rate, availability, services provided, distance from your area, etc. After you have selected your candidates, you can schedule interviews, check references, request additional background checks and hire the caregiver that best fits your needs.

Are caregivers background checked?
Yes, caregivers on Care.com are asked to complete an annual background check called a CareCheck. Senior caregivers who complete this background check will have a badge on their profile displaying the date it was run. While CareCheck is a good start, we strongly recommend that you follow some additional steps for hiring a caregiver for seniors safely, which include interviewing candidates, checking references, and running your own background check. What can an in-home caregiver do?
Most in-home caregivers help seniors with their daily tasks while keeping them company. In general, they can help them get around the house safely, prepare meals, clean the house and give medication reminders. Most caregivers can also help with taking seniors to doctor appointments and running errands if needed. Additionally, some caregivers can assist with feeding, dressing, bathing or cognitive care.
